Department of National Archives Vacancy 2026 – Plumber (Government Permanent)

The Department of National Archives is inviting applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the post of Plumber (Primary - Skilled Service Grade PL-3). This is a permanent government appointment responsible for the maintenance and repair of plumbing systems within the department's headquarters and branch offices.

Job Role: Plumber (Grade III)

The selected candidate will handle the maintenance of the department's plumbing network, manage emergency leak repairs, and perform repairs at branch offices as directed by the administration.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Educational: Passed 06 subjects at G.C.E. (O/L) with at least 02 credits in not more than two sittings. (Note: If the applicant has NVQ Level 3 in plumbing, these O/L requirements do not apply).
  • Vocational: Must possess a proficiency certificate of not less than National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 in Plumbing from a recognized institute.
  • Age Limit: Not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years as of the closing date.
  • General: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka with excellent character and physical/mental fitness to serve in any part of the island.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Scale (PL 03 - 2025): Rs. 42,780 - 10x490 - 10x540 - 10x590 - 12x630 - Rs. 66,540/-.
  • Initial Step: Rs. 42,780.00/- per month plus government-approved allowances.
  • Employment Type: Permanent and pensionable (subject to a 3-year probationary period).
