National Institute of Education (NIE) Vacancy 2026 – Lecturer & Educationist

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is calling for applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Lecturer - II / Educationist - II. This is a permanent position within the Academic & Research Services category, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to educational development in Sri Lanka.

Available Subject Areas

Vacancies are available across multiple faculties and departments in Sinhala, Tamil, and English mediums:

• Languages & Humanities: Tamil, Sinhala, English, History, Geography, Civic Education, Art, Drama, Music, Dancing, Korean, Pali/Sanskrit.
• Science & Technology: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Technical Education, Agriculture, ICT, Home Economics.
• Education & Management: Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, Sociology, Management, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Statistics.
• Other: Physical Education, Health Science, Media Production, International Relations/Development Studies.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

• A Special Degree in a relevant field recognized by the U.G.C.
• OR A General Degree in a relevant field recognized by the U.G.C. with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.
• OR Associate Membership of a recognized professional/Chartered Institution in a related field.

Salary & Benefits

• Monthly Salary Scale (AR 1-II): Rs. 91,650 - 10 x 2,480 - 15 x 3,450 - 168,200/-.
• Allowances: Other government-approved allowances will be paid.
• Terms: Permanent position with EPF (12% Employer, 8% Employee) and ETF (3%) contributions.
• Age Limit: 22 to 45 years (Upper limit not applicable to internal candidates).
